We proudly present a signed wakizashi featuring a beautiful Aikuchi-style koshirae.
The blade has been old-polished overall but is virtually flawless, with no rust or chips. The jigane exhibits a lively interplay of itame and mokume patterns, and traces of yubashiri are visible, offering a glimpse of the dynamic forging process. The hamon features an overwhelming, dynamic pattern of irregularly intermingled nioideki, ko-gunome, and ko-choji, creating a truly striking visual impact. The nakago is engraved with the name āKagemitsu.ā
Kagemitsu was a leading figure of the Osafune school in Bizen Province (present-day Okayama Prefecture) during the late Kamakura period, and this piece is believed to have been forged in the late Muromachi period. In December 2025, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords certified this wakizashi as an authentic work by Kagemitsu and issued Hozon certificate.
This wakizashi is equipped with a high-quality shirasaya made of magnolia wood featuring a silver grain pattern, and an aikuchi koshirae finished entirely in wakasa lacquer. Whether you admire the shirasaya or the aikuchi koshirae, this is a masterpiece that brings joy to the viewer. The wooden blade, tsunagi, is broken in the middle, but this does not affect its practical use.
