Katana - Kanehisa - Uchigatana/Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Gendai Era - Gifu 084064

Katana - Kanehisa - Uchigatana/Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Gendai Era - Gifu 084064

This katana was created in 2018 by Gifu swordsmith Kanehisa. Kanehisa apprenticed himself to his father Masaaki, a swordsmith, in 1973 and trained in Japanese swordsmithing, but when Masaaki passed away in 1979, Kanehisa became an apprentice to his uncle, Kanemasa. Since then, he has received numerous awards and is now one of Seki's leading swordsmiths.

This sword has a number of areas where the ha has beenĀ forged extensively and has reached the shinogisuji. The hamon is very dynamic and has an overwhelming presence, with some gunome mixed in with the itame hada and extreme high and low choji. The boshi are midarekomi, with some tobiyaki in the ji and some chojiashi in the ha, and you can enjoy very active patterns throughout the sword. The condition of preservation is excellent, with no flaws, dents, or chips of any kind. However, there are scuff marks on the surface of the blade, probably due to its use in iai. The hi-ga carving on the blade makes this sword ideal for iai use.

Koshirae are equipped with both uchigatana and shirasaya, so you can carefully store the sword blade in the shirasaya after use to keep the health of the blade in good condition at all times. The uchigatana koshirae has a black silk cord wrapped around the tsuka. Probably because this katana was used for iai, it shows signs of use. The tsuba, menuki, and fuchikashira are all contemporary fittings.

We are offering this authentic Japanese sword, perfect for iai use, at an unbelievably low price. Buy it now!
