Authentic Koto Era Tanto for Sale - Kanemoto | Tozando

Authentic Koto Era Tanto for Sale - Kanemoto | Tozando

Tanto equipped with a very unique koshirae in excellent condition has just arrived.

The sword blade has been sharpened beautifully throughout and is free of any defects such as flaws, rust, or chips. The hiraji, about 3 cm from the habaki on both sides of the sword, has whitish traces of what appears to be a chemical reaction.

Jigane is hada with mokume mixed with itame, and yubashiri is also visible. Hamon is a gunome with deep nie, and hataraki such as ashi, yo, and tama are visible in various places. The name Kanemoto is engraved on the nakago. Kanemoto was a group based in Seki (present-day Seki City, Gifu Prefecture) that made swords from generation to generation.

Magoroku Kanemoto, also known as Magoroku, is particularly famous and the first and second generations are especially popular. This piece was made around the late Muromachi period. The saya is lacquered in vermilion with gold dots, and tsuka is equipped with a leather painted in gold. The fuchigane is made of a material similar to amber.
